I feel very grateful for the interesting and exciting life I have had so far.My former career as an Interior Designer gave me the opportunity to decorate some beautiful homes and have wonderful adventures and meet great people. From my first marriage I have two wonderful children. Scott, is 37 and is a journalist living in Park Slope. Jessica is 34 and has an MSW, working as a marketing director for an independent living facility near Albany. For the past eight years I have been married to a very special man, Alan Schlossberg. We work together doing investment real estate. We now live in Delray Beach, Florida and Rhinebeck N.Y. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

"I stopped being a juvie thug the day we graduated from Hewlett, then junior college at SUATI in Farmingdale proved so gratifying and maturing that it opened the door to the Navy’s flight training program. After 18 months of training, I received my wings and commission. The next 21 years as a pilot included many deployments with squadrons and detachments aboard carriers and small ships, a year in Vietnam with the Navy’s only helicopter gunship squadron, a stint at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey to get my degree, several tours at the headquarters level in Washington, DC and Norfolk, Virginia, one wife and two sons. I still have the two sons but am now enjoying life with Sandy Bremer, my second wife these past 10 years. Two young grand daughters, Natalie and Arianna, from son Aaron and his wife Monica, round out the immediate family. My other son, Allen, has resisted the marriage impulse. I’ve been a senior systems engineer working in northern Virginia since retiring as a commander in 1988. Most of the work has been in aviation and space safety. Sandy and I now live in McLean. The years have been gentle to my body and I’m in the third decade of running. The time in Monterey got me hooked on poetry and much of my spare time is devoted to managing and growing my book collection, active involvement with the Robinson Jeffers Tor House Foundation, the Robinson Jeffers Association, and efforts that encourage literacy, poetry, and the publishing of books and films about the poet Robinson Jeffers."

What a great website, especially the oldies and the pictures. I’m living in a small town in North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with my wife of twenty-five years, Cheryl, and three children. The youngest is a junior in high school. I also have two grandchildren. When I’m not passing gas, you can find me traveling on my motorcycle or performing miracles in my cabinet shop. No little white balls for me. Last year, I rode the Lewis and Clark Trail to the western border of Idaho and ride about 25k each year. Oh, the gas part: I forgot to mention that I’m also an anesthesiologist on the faculty at Duke. See y’all in six months. |

I met Gail on the NYC subway. and we got married in 1968. After working in advertising and as a stockbroker, we moved to Virginia Beach in 1971. We have 2 sons, Brian 33 and Joe 32. After almost 20 years in the construction management business, I became a high school business teacher in 1991. I've been a Computer Resource Specialist at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach since1999. I've been the school webmaster for nine years. I started an alumni section of the school site and ran it for two years before I turned it over to an alumnus. At that time it had over 750 names, and I thought some day I'd like to do a Hewlett Class of '61 site. Well that day has arrived in time for our 45th reunion. Hope you enjoy browsing this site as much as I do creating it.

After graduation from Cortland State, I married a townie and lived in Cortland for almost 20 years. I majored in Education and taught elementary scholl and Headstart for a few years until my son, Joe was born. While on maternity leave, I discovered I had an interest in Real Estate. I worked for a Century 21 franchise until my husband was transferred to Binghamton, NY. By accident, I managed to find myself managing an apartment complex of 300 units. I found I really enjoyed the job and have gone on to be the Central New York regional manager for Realty ManagementConcepts. I now run around throughtout the region supervising propertiess and looking for new ones. I am still married to the same man and my son just turned 36.. He is a musician and the owner of The Platnum Plant, a local recording studio. Sorry I won't beat the reunion, but you will all be in my thoughts. I'd love to hear from some of my classmates. |

Congratulations Lee on a fabulous web site. Who knew that such talent resided in our ranks! I've thoroughly enjoyed reading the mini-biographies posted to date, but like many have said, I'm glad there are photos to go with the names. I hope the committee has name tags on their list of reunion ideas. After a short stint in college after Hewlett, I joined the Army in 1962, serving in the National Honor Guard in Washington. Took part in the JFK funeral, LBJ inauguration, and additional state funerals for Herbert Hoover, General MacArthur, and John Foster Dulles. Back to school for a BS from Adelphi and an MS in Business from Columbia. Spent 36 years at Verizon, retiring as Director of Network Planning in November of 2001. Spent the last 3 months of my career rebuilding the communications network of downtown Manhattan after 9/11. NEVER FORGET!! Had the great fortune to accidently run into Sharon Sherdel Ginty(61' classmate) many years after graduation at a local dairy. We both convinced our reluctant spouses to have dinner with strangers and we've been best of friends ever since. Glad we ran out of milk that evening! Been married 34 years and have 3 grown sons. Expecting first grandchild later this year. Can't wait to see everyone at the reunion. Make sure to have big bold capital letters on nametags. |

After completing high school, I received a BBA from Adelphi University and an MBA from NYU. I went to work for Merck & Co., Inc in the financial area, In 1981 I was named Corporate Assistant Treasurer and in 1986 Managing Director for Merck’s Caribbean and Central American business. In 1991, I left Merck to form my own pharmaceutical development, promotion and distribution business, Puerto Rico Pharmaceutical, Inc. It is a decision that I find very rewarding both personally and professionally. I was married once and have two fabulous children, a son Daniel, and a daughter Karen. Both are married and live in the east south Florida area where I also have a second home in Williams Island in Aventura. My son after completing his masters and a few years of work for Bain %26 Co. in Australia now works with me in our company. My daughter also has a Masters and is a special education teacher in the Florida school system. I have two great children who are very close to me and each has provided me with a grandchild I adore and spend all my free time with. I love my work so much that I intend to continue doing it as long as possible. Life has had its ups and downs, but fortunately mostly ups. |

I graduated from Hofstra University in 1966, was drafted into the army along with Douglas Brandt on December 7, 1966, and spent 10 months in Southeast Asia. In 1973, I received an MBA from St. Johns University. My wife Cynthia and I met in a bar in Brooklyn, and have three grandchildren. I worked for the Navy Department for 17 years in Brooklyn. In 1981 I moved back to Gibson, during which time I ran 3 New York marathons and 2 Long Island marathons, and various races on Long Island. We moved to Vermont in 1986, where we owned a motel in sky country and I was also the Comptroller for the southwest Vermont Supervisory Union, comprising seven elementary, and high school districts. We are now living in Estero, Florida and I am the Accounting Director for the Lee County Tax Collector, in Fort Myers. This web site is great and I am enjoying reading all the biographies.

"My thanks to Mark, and Lee for doing an outstanding job; the 45 th is going to be something to remember! I am sorry to see that we have lost so many classmates. I was married for 23 years, now single. I have two wonderful sons, one is at Jacoby Hospital, Neurosurgery, and my other son is in the Air Force intelligence, stationed in Omaha, Neb. Since leaving Hewlett, I lived in Oakdale, L.I. and after retiring from the N. Y. P. D., I relocated to Jamestown, NY, and then to Skaneateles, NY where I raised horses and worked as an Investigator, for the Community Banking Systems, dealing with bank fraud. Then, I moved to Oyster Bay Cove, NY, and took on a position as an Investigator with the Medical Malpractice Ins. In1993, I formed my business, Crossland Investigations, Inc. (www.crosslandpi.com) with offices in NY, PA, and NJ, Now, semi-retired, I work out of my home in Lehigh Valley, PA. I have been very active all my life, horses, and deep sea fishing have become an integral part of my life, either playing polo, fox hunting, or on cattle drives out in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. Also, traveling mostly to Costa Rica, Key West, Mexico, France, and Italy (my second home), and this June traveling to Russia.

Since high school I’ve worn many hats: wife, mother, grandmother, secretary, pre-school teacher, dance teacher, personal trainer, shop owner, professional “nanny”, professional cook and owner of a gourmet gift basket company. Maybe, someday, I’ll figure out what I want to do when I grow up. In 1978 we moved to Miami to be near my parents and to have Sunday dinner together every week (Great Memories). I’m still married to Nick (40 years), still dancing (but not enough) and still laughing (Life is Good). We have two great kids, Zed (37) and Kia (35) and best of ALL, the greatest Grandchild, TY (8). They are the JOY OF OUR LIVES. My parents have passed on but fortunately, the family Sunday dinner tradition lives on. Nick is a real estate developer. He also started a not for profit housing company for migrant farm workers in Ruskin, Florida. Zed is enjoying the single life in South Beach and is the Operations Manager for Miami’s largest resort management company. Kia is a single Mom and is the best Mother, ever, and a Personal Massage Therapist. Lucky me! I am working at the Montessori School that Ty attends and absolutely love it. Can’t wait to see everyone!!!!!!!!!! |

In 1967 I received my Bachelor’s Degree from New York Institute of Technology and then got married for the first time. Within 10 months I was a father and an Engineering Officer in the U.S. Air Force. I spent all 4 years stationed in AR. After the Air Force I became a Federal civil service employee working at water resources planning in MO, KS, and NE from the Army Corps of Engineers district office in Kansas City, MO. By then I was a father of 3 (girl 38, boy 36, girl 34.) Fortunately a position came available with the AF near KCMO and I received a promotion and went back to the same work I had done when I was in the AF, which was Public Works, thought the AF calls it Base Civil Engineering. In 1975 I moved for another AF position in Minneapolis, MN and spent 10 years there freezing, but managing to get divorced and remarried and have another child (girl 21.) Again moving for an AF job, in 1985 I came to San Antonio, TX where I have lived since and will remain. After becoming a father for the 5 th time (boy 20) I figuring out what was causing it and made that the last. Did the divorce thing again for the last time too. I decided my engineering days were over and retired from the government in 1998 at age 55 and never looked back. Worked a bit as a professional furniture maker/repairer/finisher then quit working for someone else for good. This year I started my own small business making use of my 50+ years of woodworking experience. I create artistic woodturnings and sell them at Market Days, which are very popular here in TX. The demand has been good and I have to work 6-9 hours a day in my wood shop to keep up. It’s really a hobby that pays for itself and I don’t want a real job. As of this writing I have 6 grandchildren but none of them live in TX; 4 in OR and 2 in MN. My 2 youngest children are single and live in the house next door. I won’t be at the 45 th reunion since I am holding out for the 50 th. This site is really great and I have contacted several folks already. I am meeting Maureen O’Leary (Kelly) and her husband next week since they just live up the road a piece, which here in TX means less than 250 miles. Got a message to Joe Rizzo too and a reply. He and I have lots to catch up on. I was very saddened to learn Billy Kors died. He and I were close in high school. Feel free to contact me. E-mail is best since I am in the shop almost all day. Bye y’all. (See the scrapbook for the other half of Lenny's "now" picture.)

It should be easy to sum up my 45 years since our high school graduation- the time that has passed since we were children with young faces to the time that we are children with old faces. I went to college, then law school (never practiced law)and then became a real estate developer. I was married, divorced- 10 years off for bad behavior- and married again (the triumph of hope over experience) to Irene Perelman, also a HHS alum (I had my eye on her since she was a little girl- she's still a little girl). We share three wonderful children, their mates and so far three more wonderful grandchildren. They live all over the country so that keeps us running. We have been blessed with good health, so far, and a good life. We amuse and challenge ourselves with sailing, tennis, skiing and recently with golf. I guess I needed a new frustration. I have often thought about my friends and experiences from our HHS days and am really excited about our reunion. Our Class Reunion Committee has done an incredible job. I'm thankful for their effort and for being a member of our Class of '61. |

GREAT LOOKING Reunion Website! I'm looking forward to seeing it grow as the remaining pieces come together. It was great to hear from Howie when he called. It really started the memories flowing -- I knew right where to go to get hold of my copy of Patches. You guys (reunion committee) are doing a great job. Thanks.
Joe added: I would also appreciate any information you have about the circumstances of Bill Kors's death. We had stayed in touch until a little over a year ago, when my last letter to him went unanswered. During my regular trips back to L.I. to see family, I would make a point of stopping to visit with Bill at his gas station on West Broadway. When he sold the gas station about three years ago, I lost touch with him." |

I inadvertently sent my biography to Reader's Digest by mistake and didn't even realize it until I received a rejection notice stating my"article" was "too brief" even by their standards. Anyway....after college, I moved to Manhattan and got married in 1970. In 1974 I got divorced, no children. I worked for Savin Business Machines from 1971-1986 when I moved back to Long Island (Merrick) and decided not to commute to the city. I became a rare coin dealer and have done that ever since. I moved to south Florida 3 1/2 years ago and had a bit of heart surgery last year. Since then ( sounding like Yogi Berra now) I have been 80% semi-retired. I never remarried but had two meaningful relationships each of several years (4 and 9) duration. One woman lived on Daub Avenue in Hewlett (or is that Woodmere?) so I kind of lived in the 5 towns again from 1986-1990. It's great hearing from and reading about so many classmates. It was a very special time in our lives, growing from young children to young adults together with bonds that need only the smallest spark to be rekindled. Adding to the chorus, I too look forward to the reunion and a big "We are Hewlett and no one can be prouder and if you can't hear us we'll shout a little louder" to all the committee members who are getting this together and everyone else who share in such wonderful memories.

A few weeks after graduation I left for boot camp at 'Parris Island S.C.,served four years in a 'Marine Corps Expeditionary Unit'and thanks to Uncle Sam I crisscrossed the globe a number of times. When I finally returned home I met Catherine(she is a Lawerence Public School Administrator)we were married in 1966 and have two wonderful children,Kristine(38)who lives in Gibson and Nick(35)who lives in Beverly Hills CA. We're also blessed with three terrific grandchildren ages (7,4,and 2).My wife and I spend a lot of time being bi-coastal grandparents. After thirty -five plus years in construction and construction management business(and one heart attack)I decided to retire. I'm now the grandpa who meets the school bus and goes to special persons day at my granddaughter's school and I'm loving it. The summer we graduated, I left to work in construction in West Africa. I lived in Nigeria, and visited Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Upon returning, I went directly to Tulane University in New Orleans where I spent four fantastic years and got a good mechanical engineering education as well. Two weeks after graduating from Tulane, I married Lynn Travis (Woodmere Academy '63) and moved to Gibson. Forty one years later, we have two children....our son Jeff, who lives in Hewlett Neck, is married with three children, and our daughter Dale.....who lives in Westchester (Briarcliff Manor) and has two children. Our first Bat Mitzvah is coming up next September. We have lived in Woodsburgh, Lancaster, Pa., and Manhattan where we now base ourselves. We also have places in Orange County, California and Florida. I went into the manufacturing side of the textile business. In 91 I developed a new fabric that we trademarked as SLINKY(R) and now we manufacture our own line of clothing that is sold on Home Shopping Network as Slinky(R) Brand. My daughter-in-law designs and sells the line on air while my son produces the line and my son-in-law (a partner at Baker Botts) handles our intellectual property. It has been a very exciting life so far...I can't wait for tomorrow. |

Eddie and I have lived in Chappaqua for 36 years. We have 2 married daughters, 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter who are all adorable (I know you all think yours are!). After having volunteered more time than I care to remember while the girls were growing up, I became a botanical illustrator and aside from teaching at the Bartlett Arboretum in Stamford, CT, the Kitchawam Research Station of the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, I taught Horticulture in the Chappaqua schools. I have illustrated for books and magazines (most of which are now defunct). For many years I had a flower business, designing for weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. That was great fun. Good luck to all of you. Have a fabulous reunion.

I'm not really missing after all, just VERY out of touch for the past 45 years! After graduating from Dickinson College, I got married (and still am, to Al Miller), lived in the city for a short time, then spent the next 17 years overseas - in Ecuador, Peru, Brazil and Mexico, while Al worked for Citibank. During that time, we had two children (Al, 37, and Tania, 35), I taught English at several American/International schools, learned how to speak pretty decent Spanish and Portuguese and got my master's in Intercultural Education in Mexico. We moved back to the US in 1982, spent a year in Dallas, 6 in the San Francisco Bay Area and the past 18 in CT. For the past 15 years, I've been the coordinator of the Language Lab and teaching English as a Second Language at Norwalk Community College. Al retired from Citibank several years ago, and I expect to do the same within a year so we can spend more time with our three wonderful grandchildren, ages 7, 4 and 2, as well as traveling and pursuing other pastimes that full-time work doesn't allow. Unfortunately, we will be in Philadelphia at a college alumni event and will therefore miss the reunion, but I'd love to get back in touch with classmates. |

It's hard to believe that it's been 45 years since we graduated high school. I have been happily married to Bob, my high school sweetheart, for 42 years. We have two children and two granddaughters who live close by. I work part-time at our church and enjoy playing golf and gardening. In June I will be celebrating my 43rd anniversary. I met Robert during our senior year and married him in 1963. Since we married we have lived in West Virginia, New Jersey, Maryland and then came back to NY to live in Westchester. Twenty years ago we returned to Brooklyn, the Borough of my birth. We have 3 fantastic, brilliant and beautiful grown children (Michael, Debra & Mara) and 5 wonderful grandchildren. For our children’s growing up years I was a homemaker while also teaching clarinet and playing in community orchestras. I later went back to school and got an MBA from Pace University. For the past 17+ years I have been working in Manhattan for New York City. After 11+ years I left my position at the Department of Sanitation where I was Chief of Staff. Since then I have been working at the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications at first creating the City Web Portal (www.NYC.gov ) and now as Assistant Commissioner of Citywide Geographic Information systems. My job is exciting, I get to work with cutting edge technology and go out in the world to speak about the fantastic work that my group does. I love my job and am not even considering retirement. |

After my 10th college reunion from Union College, I said never again. So what's another broken promise to myself? It's Sept. 29, and I just visitied the website for the very first time. How can't I come? You guys really got it together! And now my life so far. I got married, worked my way through law school designing clothing, and opted to stay in fashion. After selling a chain of clothing stores in Canada that featured my designs, I returned to the U.S. at age 40. I then divided my time between Woodstock,NY, where my wife and I raised 3 children and where I did some writing, and Manhattan, where I developed real estate. I started phasing out of busines 5 years ago, and devote most of my time to family, photograhy, and travel. Ironically, I don't keep solo pictures of myself but photograph everything else on the planet, since helping to save the planet is what keeps me going strong. (My website is www.KenSilverphotography.com. Most of the proceeds from my work go directly to charitable foundations). I am currently getting ready for an upcoming show of my work, "Threatened: Occupied Tibet's Enduring Spirit." See ya all on Saturday. |

Great web site! Congratulations and much appreciation to our hardworking committee. I am happily married for 41 years to my prom date, and it's getting better and better. Lesley and I both graduated from Michigan State and then in an effort to fulfill my Patches "want to be" I became a CPA and worked for Arthur Anderson for five years. Since then I have been involved in all facets of the franchising industry -- and in fulfilling my Patches "favorite saying" - "Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker." We have a 39 year old daughter and twin 37 year old sons, all married and living in Westchester, with eight wonderful grandchildren. I look forward to seeing everybody at the reunion. My children Ted 12 and Liam 9 are both here with me at our ranch in Fairplay Colorado where we are spending the summer white river rafting, riding our atv's and traveling to the Grand Canyon. I adopted both my children at birth and have geared my life to their activities which leaves me exhausted but thrilled every day to have them in my life. During the school year we live in Boca Raton, Florida across the street from my mom, who my kids see almost every day. I practice as a clincal forensic psychologist and as a psychoanalysist specializing in children and adolescents and young adults. I am hoping to see all of you in October if I can find a baby sitter. 37 years ago I married Alan Stern, Hewlett HS ’60, and have lived happily with him in beautiful woods a few miles outside of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Alan is a psychoanalyst. We have two children, Becca who is working for a research institute in NYC and finishing her Ph.D. in social psychology and Sam, who, after living in LA for several years is now in Thailand, writing, meditating and enjoying yoga. After receiving my Ph.D. in sociology and doing research for several years, I became a CPA. I have worked at Duke University for the last twenty years. We enjoy the southern countryside and have a collection of traditional North Carolina pottery. We are involved in our small, but growing, Jewish community. I am chair of our local Jewish Community Foundation. Our synagogue in Durham, NC has at least five other Hewlett HS graduates. |

Would love to be at the reunion but my husband and I will be on vacation in South Africa. The trip is to celebrate our 35th anniversary. We have two boys aged 31 and 26, the eldest Josh is married but Noah is still single. They both live in the east village. The only grandchild I have is a Maltese called Betty White. My husband, Myron, and I started our own business 30 years ago called Autolog. We transport individually owned cars all over the country. Presently we are snow flakes because we go back and forth during the winter to Jupiter, Florida. If anyone is in the area our phone number is 561-741-3214. Hello to all. Sue |

Married with children; two daughters, Jackie, an attorney and Liza, an R.N., and four grandchildren. My husband Ted (a Lawrence High School graduate) and I have lived in Denver since the early 70s but we return home often to see family, friends, New York and the ocean. I have sometimes jogged around the Hewlett track during these visits but never had the courage to go inside. Colorado has given me the opportunity to be in the mountains and to experience a different sense of time and space. I have enjoyed a career as a therapist and now work at a college for the arts as their counselor. Though Nan Abrahams Rubin and I live in different cities we have remained close friends since Jr. High. One of the many treasures of this friendship is the link it has given us to our school days. I look forward to the reunion.

For many years I devoted my time between our home in Florida and one in New York while raising our four children. I was very active in the children's school (Parent Association President, etc.), volunteering in various organizations, playing tennis and garden club. When our children were all out of elementary school, I then decided I needed to be more "productive" and worked in our local elementary school for approximately thirteen years. When the American Airlines fleight crashed four blocks from our home (post 9/11), I decided I was not doing what I ultimately wanted to be doing. I retired from the New York City Board of Ed and worked and traveled with my husband of 41 years. We are now enjoying our four gandchildren (fifth is on the way), vacationing in Florida for the winters and working and traveling together. Life is exciting and beautiful! (See larger image) |

Married to Iris 38 years. Two sons, Daniel 35, (attorney) married 7 months. Lee 29,( our property manager ) married 21/2 years, has co-produced the first grandchild, he is expected to report for action the end of May. Both sons live in our community. I graduated from Hofstra in 64', BBA in finance. Completed first year of law school, one year was enough for me(worst year of my life).Aug. 65' enlisted in N.Y.Air National Guard (my units rating was raised and took in everyone on the waiting list), definitely a good day for me. I was trained for aero medical evacuation. Became a furniture buyer for Abraham&Strauss which led to me representing a major furniture factory in the N.Y. metro area. Moved to so. Florida in 71', formed my own home furnishings co.(contract flooring & wood floor manufacturing). In 90' I became involved in settling Soviet refugees, I initiated the synagogue adoption program in Broward County Fl. with Jewish Family Service. In 92' I severed my ties in the business to devote all my time to the resettlement program.( I have been known to become obsessed with a project) . In the end the refugees gave me more satisfaction than any help I could give them. In 94' the need for my involvement was minimal and decided to get active in my real dream, property. I associated with a very close friend in the business and in 96' formed my own co., Dial Realty Corp. (Daniel, Iris, Alan, Lee), pretty clever I must say. We own income property, particularly office property. As I really have no hobbies & have no plans to retire in the conventional way, I decided to view the business as my hobby, although Iris & I have traveled a great deal in the last five years, primarily in the western U.S. I have fallen in love with the west. Since life is a journey I decided to try to live my dream in my "Golden Years"(I believe my best years are yet to come). So, with that in mind I purchased (after 4 years of research & negotiation) 10,000+ acres of prime developable Interstate land in Elko County Nevada. Please refer to my website"americalivethedream.com" This should keep me busy for a while. For those of you sitting on the fence about coming to the reunion, get off and come! The 40th was my first and I had a ball. This committee has really got it's act together, how about that website, spectacular! Great job Lee. Don"t miss this reunion it will be one for the memory books. To my old buddies, BE THERE! See you in October.

In Patches I said I wanted to be a "happily married schoolteacher." Well, I've been that for 40 years to Kenny Boosin. Am a certified school teacher, but don't teach. Have worked in Development at the Dalton School in Manhattan for the past 10 years. Kenny and I have two kids and 4 fabulous grandchildren (a boy and girl in NJ and two girls in Connecticut.) Kenny is retired, but I'm still working. We have had a house in Fire Island for the past 30 years, so we spend our time in NY or Fire Island. Our daughter baby-sat for Mark Kolber's son Michael years ago. This all sounds very prosaic, but it's certain | |
