This website is so creative! I read it with my morning coffee cause there's always something new! Just discovered the year book photos. A big help given my ever-shrinking memory. Not easy to sum myself up over the past bla bla years. I have decided this week to start collecting SS! Am married to the same sweet and handsome guy for 41 years. We both have less hair. He has seen me through my feminist politics (oiy vey!), graduate school, menopause, years of work as a psychotherapist in NY and Arizona, and everything in between. We are like a fine, aging wine! Our progeny include a son and daughter (rather "balanced" people,TG!), both married, and two grandchildren all of whom have us counting our blessings and there are so many! I sculpt now, and, given my sign of Mountain Goat, have an incredible affinity for hiking which is why we moved to the west! Shelly Cooper (Strauss) and I have stayed close all these years - kindred spirits in all the above. It will be a hoot to come to this reunion and, Howie, thanks for the apology for refusing my invitation to the Junior High Prom. My shrink thanks you, too! Only, kidding. |

Those who attended the reunion got to see Steve one last
time. Steve became the 30th member of our class to

to many of us and will be missed. |

Regretfully I will not be able to attend our 45th reunion... but it did get me thinking. If I were able to attend I would liked to have shared how thankful I am to have attended school (since 3rd grade) with you all. It was many years after our HS graduation, & after much travel & living in so many places... that I came to realize & appreciate that the people I had attended grade school with were the brightest and best classmates I could have ever had. Academically you set the "bar" so high. In turn you challenged me to dig-deep inside just to keep up! What great preparation for Life!
If I were at the reunion I would want to tell you how grateful I am for the education we received from the faculty & the wide variety of courses that were offered at HHS. We were so well prepared for higher education and competition with fellow students from all over the globe. At the time...I failed to appreciate the extraordinary opportunities we were given.
Lastly, but equally important to me where the years spent with many of the women alum on the girls sports teams, & as a counselor at the Hi-Y, & all those years in girl scouts. Back in the 50's & early 60's there were few opportunities afforded young women to learn leadership qualities, working as a team member, & the setting of long-term goals for careers (& the support & encouragement to do so). We were so privileged to have had access to the those activities & the foundation they provided for our futures! Thanks to all in the Class of 1961.
As a result of my years shared with you at GWH-HS my life has been, and continues to be, challenging, productive, fulfilling and exciting. Unbelievabe, given my years attending summer school, I graduated magna cum laude 3 times. (Queens Collage, Arizona State University, and Case Western Reserve University with a PhD.) Talk about your "late bloomer"! I was a full-time faculty member/profesesor at Michigan State teaching Masters and Doctoral students. In addition I had a private practice & consulting business. My area of expertize ....Acute Traumatic Stress & Disaster Mental Health. I worked a great deal in the Pacific Rim (primarily Korea & China). Now retired I live in Phoenix near my daughter & visit my son in Huntington Beach, CA. My 4 grand-children are aged 15 -7. I remain active in the arts and travel overseas a great deal. Life is good & I know how blessed I have been!!

I graduated from Barnard College in 1965 and married Martin Cooper (Columbia College) in 1966. Off we went with the Foreign Service (me for 14 years) to Bogota (Colombia), Belgrade (the former Yugoslavia), Kabul (yes, Afghanistan, but before the Russians marched in and before the Taliban), New Delhi (India), and Islamabad (Pakistan)--with postings along the way in the DC area too. So I've certainly done a lot of exotic travelling and continue to travel today. My favorite spot is Dubrovnik, Croatia.
After divorcing in 1982, I returned to the DC area and I've been a realtor for 24 years in Maryland. My children are Lisa (35) who is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she specializes in medieval literature, and Stephen (31) who is an attorney with the DC Public Defender's Service.
Reconnecting with Jane (Hirshleifer) Turner who lived one block away from me in Woodmere has made me reflect on the last 45 years--and the great fun (mostly) it's been. Hope you all have a great time at reunion. Does anyone want to buy a house in Maryland? If so, please get in touch with me at genecooper@mris.com.

My brother's posting compels me to let you know about the other one. I, too, appreciate being included for the same reasons. Although I have been accused of never working, it is not true. After leaving the family veal business in 1966, I worked for 20th Century Fox in California, repped photographers in New York, and sold co-ops in New York. In 1981, I adventured to the Virgin Islands where I ended up managing a resort hotel on Water Island and then moved to St.John for three years where I bought and sold real estate. In 1987 I left New York and moved to Sarasota. Here I am involved in properties and also spend my time tending to my home, which is always under renovation, and tending to my ground for which my motto is "eat or smell it or don't plant it." |

Although I didn't graduate from Hewlett High, I attended Hewlett Elementary and Woodmere JHS with many of you and appreciate being included in the class of 1961 list. For most of my adult life I lived in NYC and have been on Wall Street in many different capacities; in research, running my own hedge fund, but mostly as an OTC market maker. In 1994 I went with my family( wife Lori, we married in 1981, two daughters, Hannah, now 18 and Lydia,14)to Moscow to help set up the Russian stock market. We expected to be there 6 to 9 months, but when the USAID project was successfully completed 18 months later, I stayed on to run and mentor the equity trading department for a then small Russian brokerage company, Troika Dialog. We returned from Moscow in June of 1999 and moved to our country home in southern Columbia County where I continue to be active in the equity markets but find time to satisfy my golf addiction and tend the gardens and lanscaping. Kudos to Mark, Lee, Fred and the committee for the Olympic effort to make the 45th a memorable event. See you there. |

Left the golden ghetto after high school and went to RISD for 2 years. Dropped out and went to NYC and attended the arts Students League studying painting, Columbia U. studying literature and taking various classes at the New School. At some point moved upstate to a little town called Pine Bush until I broke my leg in a horse accident. Moved back to the city to heal. In ’68 left the country and traveled first to Puerto Rico and then spent a year traveling in South America. My mother met me in Buenos Aires where we visited and then I continued on to Brazil. In about ’69 flew to Senegal with plans to cross the Sahara by land but did not feel comfortable in this Muslim country so flew to Morocco. Traveled there and spent about a month in Marrakech.
When I left Morocco I went to Spain, Portugal, and France ending up in England where I traveled with English hippies with horses and wagons. Returned home to NYC where my mother was then living for Thanksgiving intending to work and make some money to return to England and get my own wagon. The brother of a friend was going to the bay area with his girl friend and I caught a ride with them. When we passed through Colorado where I was in awe of the mountains, I got out and hitched a ride to Gardner where I had the address of a woman I had met in Puerto Rico and stayed for ten years, marrying and having two wonderful children. Eventually built my wagon in Colorado and lived in it for a year or so until acquiring land with an old church which my husband and I renovated.
After divorcing my husband I moved to Santa Fe in ’79 where I have been living ever since. Never remarried although was in a nine year relationship during that time. I am a jeweler and a photographer and also teach Kundalini Yoga. Click for larger image. |

It's an awesome task to sit down and chronicle the last 45 years since so many of us have seen each other. I count my 41 year marriage to Stuart right up there with the best of my accomplishments. We have three sons, Andrew (38), David (36) and Jason (31). They're all married and have given us three grandsons and three granddaughters. We delight in having two grandsons living right near us on Long Island (both in Manhasset and Bridgehampton.) Otherwise we're kept busy traveling to Maryland and Arizona to visit the others. In 1965, I graduated from The University of Michigan and, after taking some graduate courses in Education, I entered the teaching field. I took a few years off to raise our sons. When they all were in school, I returned to college for a second Bachelors degree, this time in Fine Arts/Interior Design and Space Planning. Upon graduation, I went to work for an architectural design firm as its project manager. But the call to teaching was too strong, so I went back to school once again, this time for my Masters degree in Instructional Technology. For the past 12 years, I have been teaching language arts and reading to sixth graders at Great Neck South Middle School. A few years ago, I wrote a children's historical fiction/fantasy "chapter book" based on my Woodmere childhood experiences. It has simmered on the back burner for these past years. This summer, in between playing tennis every day, I am attempting to complete the 5th or 6th revision (I've lost count.) While I'm aware that I am no competition for our poet laureate, Louise Gluck, I have also dabbled in writing poetry. Finally, we should all feel fortunate that we have the opportunity to get together and celebrate reaching this time in our lives. |

A huge "thanks" to Mark, Lee, Fred, Howie and everyone involved in contributing to the website and planning the reunion. After H.H. I received an engineering degree from P.T.I.[now P.U.-Phila.Univ.] lived in the frat house with Tommy Miller-a lot of fun-got married in '65 and raised a wonderful family in Dix Hills, N.Y.-Now divorced and living in Lumberton,N.C./Myrtle Beach, S.C. For the past 35 years I have owned several textile companies. Presently, I have partners/ affiliates here and in Hong Kong. I developed and own several world-wide patents and trademarks for high performance fabrics that we also manufacture. The final products are sold around the world. You can find some of our "UltimAir" fabrics in the "Breezies" lingerie line of garments featured on the QVC network, or QVC.com. The best part is two great kids, two terrific kids-in-law, and three small grandchildren. I am working hard at working less and spending more time playing golf, tennis, and laughing with my kids and grandchildren. For the past ten years I have donated my time to run a cancer support group at the Southeastern Regional Hosp./Am.Cancer Soc. and played sax in a local band that helps to raise money for charity. After graduating from Hofstra, I got involved with photography and film making and have been producing TV & radio commercials, documentaries, and corporate films for almost 40 years. My wife (Maryanne) and I will be celebrating our 40th in April. We have two daughters, Lauren (30) and Carrie (25) and yes, they’re beautiful (they must get it from their mother). Lauren was married in June ‘05 and lives in New Milford, CT. She’s the Clinical Nutrition Manager at Blythedale Children’s Hospital. Carrie is single and works as a Special Events Manager at Red 7 Media in Norwalk, CT. We lived on LI for a few years and moved to Bedford, NY in 1974. The reunion certainly appears to be building momentum. I'm looking forward to it. See you in a few months..." Later he added: "If you're interested (in my work), I have some samples on my web site - click on the 'On-line Reel' and some of the longer corporate stuff on another site. (See larger image) |

My husband Larry and I have been married for 40 years. We have two wonderful daughters, 34 and 39. Our older daughter has two boys 7 and 9, and both she and her husband work for IBM. It is so much fun being a nana. Our younger daughter is single and teaches autistic children in Atlanta. I graduated from Hofstra in '65 majoring in early childhood education and have enjoyed working with kids. Our love is power boating. We loved boating in New England while our children were growing up,and now in Sarasota we enjoy exploring the waters here. Our favorite vacations are chartering in the Virgin Islands. My best to all my old friends. This brings back so many great memories. We were so lucky to grow up when we did. |

As I began to read other biographies, tears welled up. “I remember you!” Then I wondered, “Will they remember me, too?” I’m truly looking forward to our trip down memory lane.
Only when I entered Penn State did I begin to appreciate what a fine education we had received in high school. I earned a B.S. in elementary education; then married and moved to Georgia, where I received an M.Ed. from the University of Georgia. I taught elementary school (didn’t want my students to be taller than I am) for several years in Georgia and then in California. In 1975 I became a psychotherapist in private practice; I continue to love my work.
Meanwhile Derek was born and parent education became my passion. I earned a Ph.D. from Union Institute, then created Quality Parenting sm, a program now available in the US, Europe and Asia. I’ve written a book based on the program, called Bring Out The Best – In Your Child And Yourself. Our website is www.QualityParenting.com.
Life has treated me very well. I have a wonderful husband, Ed Schuman; I couldn’t imagine a better match for me. We live in sunny California; both sets of kids live nearby. We have marvelous traveling opportunities when I train instructors to teach the parenting program.
Now I’m a proud grandma. Those of you who share this blessing know how it can open your heart.
Can’t wait to see you all. (See larger image)

Howie, I'm worried that you have enough time to write me such a long e-mail. Don't you have anything better to do with your time? Of course I plan to be at the reunion. Is it possible that so much time has gone by? Most recently I've been the director of a "top 10" (busiest in the country) level I trauma center ER in the City but am leaving for something quieter to finish out my career. You guys have done a great job getting this event together. You definitely deserve a burger and shake at the Suburban on the rest of us ("Here's your stoltz Mrs. Stub?"). Everyone here is great (wife Marilyn; daughter Alison). Give my regards to the usual suspects. See you in October, if not before. Ken. (June 6, 2006)

What a great web sight! I am enjoying reading about the classmates that I remember and ones that I have forgotten over the years—As for me, after graduation from GWH, I went on to nursing school and became a registered nurse. I worked for over 40 years in different hospitals in New York and Pennsylvania until I retired on July 4th of 2005. Talk about Independence Day! I met my husband Robert Donald (not the one we graduated with) while working in the ER of Franklin General Hospital in Franklin Square. At the time, Bob was a Nassau County police officer. Bob retired in 1981 after 20 years on the job and we moved to moved to State College, Pennsylvania. For those of you who are unfamiliar, we are located right in the heart of “lion country”—that’s the Penn State Nittany Lions. We used to enjoy going to the football games but I am getting too old to climb all those stairs. So now we just watch them on TV. But, we can still hear the roar of the crowd on a fall afternoon from our house! Bob keeps fit by volunteering and is the captain of the fire police for our local volunteer fire department. I still keep active by chasing around our three grandchildren. We have three daughters, Carole, 39, and Rachel, 37, who both live here in town. Rachel had 2 children Nicholas 7 and Jessica 5. Beth, the youngest 33, lives in Northern Virginia and has a new baby Ava, who was born on January 25. |

I have been married to Carol for 40 years and have three children and seven grandchildren. We permanently relocated from New York 1n 1974 and have lived in Michigan (twice), Washington, D.C. and Ohio. During my 29 year business career in the computer and software industry, I spent a substantial amount of time traveling outside the United States. After graduating from New York University in 1965, I was employed by Burroughs Corporation (a diversified computer systems manufacturer; now Unisys Corporation) and served as Vice President of Burroughs from 1981 to 1986. In 1986, I was elected Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC), then a private company. SDRC was a leading international supplier of mechanical design automation software and engineering services . In 1987, the company went public in an initial public offering led by Morgan Stanley. In 1991, the company became part of the S&P MidCap 400 Index. I retired in 1994, and the company was acquired by Electronic Data Systems (EDS). Since 1995, I have lived in Palm Beach County, Florida, where I enjoy golfing, visiting our geographically dispersed family and devoting two days a week to a very important cause. I am committed to the elimination of substandard housing and homelessness. Toward that end, for the past 10 years, I have been volunteering at Habitat for Humanity as a construction worker. I would like to commend the reunion committee for its excellent work. It was very enjoyable speaking with Mark and congratulations to Lee for developing this professional website. I married Bobby Ruchman (class of 1959) in 1966. We had our first son Jonathan in 1966,followed by our second son Adam in 1970. I was a stay at home Mom involved in the usual school "stuff", sports, friends and the PTA. My homeroom teacher, from Hewlett asked me to run for his seat on the Lynbrook School Board (of education). I ran and served three terms (9 years) I loved helping the children of Lynbrook. In 1980 I went back to school to become a NY State licensed medical technician. I was very lucky to have managed a medical office in Rockville Centre for 24 years. Both Jonathan and Adam were married in 1991 to our wonderful daughters-in-law Eileen and Miriam. We are blessed to have 4 incredible grandchildren. Three girls and one boy. Life is great in Florida, and we even get back to Woodmere and Hewlett as often as we can. I know this is all about us, but after 42 years we are still best friends. Love to all....Susan Gardner RUCHMAN!!!!!!!!! |

Upon graduation from Law School, I began a life-long career in the television and feature film business. I started at Columbia Pictures where I worked on such projects as Funny Girl and The Way We Were. I then moved on to Allied Artists Pictures, and worked on such projects as Cabaret, Papillon, and The Man Who Would Be King. I then spent 13 years as President of the Viacom Entertainment Group, and worked closely with our sister companies, MTV, Nickelodeon, Showtime, etc. About 10 years ago, I semi-retired to that I could spend more time with my wonderful kids, Daniel and Jacqueline, and to pursue studies in Orthodox and Chassidic Judaism. I have produced two documentaries on the Holocaust and spent time in Poland and Israel researching material for these projects and interviewed over 100 survivors. I continue to travel with my children, and spend 3 days a week studying Jewish history and Chassidic philosophy.
For personal and religious reasons, I will not be able to join you on the occasion of our 45th reunion. IY"H, I hope to be able to join you for our 50th. In the meanwhile, I wish you health, blessings, and peace.
All my best, Muttel Chaim f/k/a Michael H. Gerber f/k/a Mickey |

2006: Kudos
to the reunion committee for the awesome job that is under
way! It has
been great
fun reading everyone’s bio and the amazing and diversified
accomplishments of our class of ’61. I graduated
Hofstra University 1965 and then Queens College with a
Masters in Library Science. I taught elementary school
for 7 years as a teacher and then as a school librarian.
I have been married for 35 years and have 2 wonderful,
independent, bright, intelligent daughters - Debbie 34,
and Donna 31. We moved to Charlotte, NC in 1977 and never
looked back. Debbie graduated George Washington University
with a degree in International Affairs and the Monterey
Institute with language certification courses in Mandarin
Chinese and Spanish. Donna graduated University of Georgia
with a degree in Mass Communications and Journalism. She
also has a commercial pilots license. Both have individual
and exceptional talents and skills. Debbie is multilingual – a
great companion when traveling abroad. She has worked for
America’s Most Wanted and TNT- Atlanta. Donna worked
for CNN and was a publicist for World Championship Wrestling.
Both have traveled extensively starting with study abroad
programs in high school. My third child is an 11-year-old
spoiled princess – a Samoyed named Shelby Rose. While
raising my girls, I worked at the Charlotte Atlanta Apparel
Marts for about 23 years. It was great fun. I also got
a degree in Interior Design and fulfilled my love of clothes,
fabric, art and antiques. During my interior design courses,
I found a new passion in photography. Now, when I travel,
my moments in time are with me forever. I have been fortunate
to travel to many exciting and wonderful places, sometimes
more than once. I have been to Europe, Asia, Middle East,
Mexico, Caribbean Islands and parts of South America. My
favorite US destination is Sedona, Arizona. Some exciting
highlights – the Orient Express, a camel ride to
the pyramids in Cairo, climbing into the pyramid at Giza,
a dog sled ride in Alaska, parachuting off Mt Alyeska,
Richard Petty’s driving experience – driving
on the actual track, attending a real Hollywood movie premiere
and walking the red carpet in front of Manns Chinese theatre,
partying at Hollywood clubs and traveling by limousine
with top name wrestlers and Hollywood stars. Most recently
my family launched a new company called E-Z Cleaners (see website
www.e-zcleaners.com). Donna is head of Public Relations,
Sales and Marketing, Debbie, International and domestic
transport, Dan, husband, chemist and product developer.
We sell our E-Z Clean ProGone brands to Home Shopping Network
(HSN) to retailers nationwide like Lowe’s and Advanced
Auto Parts. We are also sponsors of Nascar, Monster Trucks
and Motorcross. I have remained close to Susan Goldfarb
Umansky since high school and we have been part of each
others lives. I look forward to attending the reunion.

This is fabulous! I am spending way too much time on this site. Since I couldn't find my yearbook, I was delighted to find the class pictures. You have done a wonderful job. I don't know how you did it, but I am happy you found me. After college I taught high school math for a few years (it was hard not to feel as if I was on the wrong side of the desk) and then moved to Boston and began working with computers. Now I am retired. I married cutie-pie John 33 years ago and we have two kids; a boy, Jesse, 29 and Emmy, 27. They are both in graduate school, Jesse going for a PhD in some Biology thing and Emmy finishing law school. |

WOW! Has it been 45 already. Weren't we just looking forward to going from Hewlett Elementary to the big, bad JUNIOR HIGH!!!! Mark called and wasn't quite sure if it was the right Judy (Gordon) Cohen. He was right and when he told me you were creating the site, I said I had to write to one of my old classmates from way back when we were buying Nik L Nips at Schmeider's across the street from that big "ole brick building. Went through the list of names and boy did that disease (nostalgia!) kick in! After living in NYC, Huntington, Great Neck, and NYC, again, I now live in Fla. and work for a computer services company. Took me a while to get used to all the techie stuff but now I love it all. I have 1 terrific son and 2 fantastic grandchildren. Who would have thought that I would ever be old enough to say that!!! Life actually started (again) when those 2 were born... . Keep me posted with all the ' 61 dirt. I hope to be able to return to see all of you on Oct. 7.

I graduated C W Post College, passed the CPA exam and worked for Touche Ross before relocating to Florida in 1973. Job transfers took me to Dallas, L.A. and back to Plantation, Fl. I have been married to Nancy (from Miami) for 25 great years. We have five children (three from my prior marriage) and six grandkids. My oldest daughter, 38, son in law and four grandchildren live only a few miles from us and keep us busy. Our youngest daughter, age 19, is in her second year at University of N Carolina, majoring in business/marketing. Her brother, 20, is in the mortgage business. After ten years with American Greetings as CFO of Magnivision, I worked as CFO for several small public companies .Tired of dealing with the SEC, I started my own CPA practice. For the past few years, I have been involved in multi-family housing conversions in Florida .I run into Alan Weinger and he keeps me up to date on what is happening. Great job on the site. |

What fun to have a website to keep up with our classmates! My kudos to Lee Mitchell, Mark Kolber and all the others who are working to bring our reunion together. After college, I moved to New York City, married at twenty-five, had my daughter Alison Hope and divorced in 1981. Ali, 34, is working on a Masters degree at the University of Melbourne in Australia. In 1988 on a summer study program in London at the Royal College of Art, I met my wonderful husband Michael Korney who lived in LA. After a whirlwind five-and-a-half month courtship, we married Christmas Day in Beverly Hills and again in early January, 1989 in New York for the East Coast kin. A two-year bi-Coastal commute finally convinced me to give up my co-op and design practice and settle in Los Angeles. I have been an interior designer for thirty-five years with my own firm. My projects have been published in books and magazines. I have been on HGTV several times. Active with ASID, I was on the Boards of the Metropolitan Chapter in New York and Los Angeles. Ali designed a terrific web site for me: www.korney.com. Michael and I are active in fundraising and acquisitions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. We established an endowment for that purpose. We are also supporters of The Center Theater Group. We have five grandchildren from our blended family, two in college, two graduating high school and the little guy Justin, 8 ½, who wins big belt buckles in the rodeo. I am an avid skier, tennis player and competitive duplicate bridge player. Michael and I like to travel. Last year I returned to Egypt after a 26 year hiatus and I am planning more trips to far-flung places. I look forward to seeing all of you soon. Enjoy your summer. (See larger image)

Sometimes the importance of a dream isn’t in what you thought you were looking for, but what you found along the way. After graduation from Penn with a business degree and an addiction to cheese steak hoagies, I moved to L.A. to find the perfect wave and attend graduate school. Returning to Manhattan I started a corporate marketing career and married. I have two wonderful older sons: Adam 34 a lawyer married to a lawyer and living in Manhattan with my delicious grandson Ian, and Matthew 31, a veterinary researcher in North Carolina. After my divorce, I met Bonnie (“new and improved” as my marketing colleagues would say) and the rest has been wonderful for the past 20 years. We have two great younger kids: Ethan 14 and Sarah 10. I am thoroughly enjoying parenting in the digital age, lots of volunteer work in the schools and for my synagogue, and soccer coaching. Several years ago I started my own marketing consulting practice to improve business profits through a better understanding of the consumer. My clients are in the food business, consumer package goods, and bio-science. We love life here in the beautiful Connecticut town of Ridgefield. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again and reminiscing. |

I have been married very happlily for 28 yrs. We have a son who is 26 yrs old and I have two stepchildren (or adults) who are 41 and 43. The 43 yr old has two children so I am a grandparent of two so far. I have a masters in psychology and I practiced as a Marriage, child, and family counselor for a number of years and then retired to play golf. I now play golf, learning bridge, travel, and take courses at UCLA. I think of myself as living a charmed life. I really want to communicate that in many ways I treasure my life and memories at Hewlett High. I am still very close to Judy Landis and our relationship transends time zones. Judy and I have recently been in contact with Marcia Sacks (thru reunion info.) and again its like bonding was immediate. We were especially remebering our PMY club. Its Pet, makeout and Jilt. I wanted to know if we were the reciepents or the do=ers. I was informed that we were neither as we had no one to do it to. |

I've led a very boring life, having been married to the same woman (Susan) for 31 years and worked at the same company (Merrill Lynch) for 38 years! I actually work for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (soon
to be Blackrock) in Plainsboro NJ as a portfolio manager. I have no plans to retire, since I still love the investment business--also, I don't play golf-an important prerequisite for retiring. Susan and I live in Princeton-we moved here in 1984 when our daughter was starting kindergarten. Margaret is now 27 years old and also works at the family firm (Merrill Lynch) as a municipal bond analyst.
Update February 5, 2009: Chief Investment
Officer, Princeton Global Asset Management: I retired
from BlackRock in August, 2008. However, I was not ready
to retire from the investment management business. I am
now working with several associates in a start-up company,
Princeton Global Asset Management., which enables me to
continue to be involved in portfolio management in a less
stressful environment than was the case in a larger organization.

Hi - I've enjoyed the site you have put together for a reunion with an outrageous number of years attached to it. My husband Ira and I have lived in Fremont, California for about 30 years - the same town David Berke lives in. I am still working - teaching English and art at the local junior high school. I enjoy living in Northern California spending as much time outdoors as possible, birding, whale watching and walking the trails of the hills and beaches. We have two grown children - Sharon, a public health teacher at the Community College of San Francisco, and Joel - a videographer and photographer in Seattle, who is presently catching salmon for the summer in Alaska. The summer prior to 9/11 I was in NYC and saw Gerry Isaacson and his family, June Spirer
and Susan Steinberg Levine. Have a wonderful reunion; I'll be there in spirit. (See larger image)

"Life is good! No, let me make that "great". I've been married 41 years...but not to the same man! With my first husband I had 2 children, who are the joys of my life. My daughter, Sara, is 36, married, working for The New York Times, and lives in NYC. My son, Jonathan is 38, works in the world of finance, is married to his high school sweetheart, has 3 incredible children and lives in Scarsdale. I have been with Chuck Queener, my adorable husband, since 1982, and I still feel like a newly-wed. Chuck is a magazine designer and an illustrator - very creative! After working for years in the field of advertising sales and then direct marketing, I started my own business in 2003 - neatness counts! I do interior design, home staging and space and clutter management, known today as professional organizing. Check out my website if you're curious! www.neatnesscounts.com. Helping to plan the upcoming reunion has been a blast - almost like a dry run for the reunion itself. I've heard about so many classmates who've been contacted and I have gotten together with a few friend already, with whom I had lost touch. Hope to see many more faces in October!" |

"After graduating with a BS in Business from Marietta College, in Marietta, Ohio in 1965, my fiancee,Marsha Taras of Oceanside, NY, and I were married in June of that same year. The following few years we lived in NY, Philadelphia, Chicago and eventually returned to Baldwin, Long Island for the next 12 years. During that time our three daughters were born and I continued my career in marketing and advertising in Manhattan and played the Dashing Dan game for close to 14 years. As the kids grew, I made the decision to go into my own business which brought me to Coral Springs, Florida in 1980. Since that time I have owned and operated a medical testing center--Health Testing Centers located in Ft. Lauderdale and No. Maimi Beach offering a complete profile of medical screening tests to the general public, corporate and medical communities. We are into our 26 year and shortly will be looking for the big "R." Our daughters have matured into 3 beautiful women and we enjoy and are proud of our 3 grandchildren. Marsha and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary this past year and we often escape to our second home in the Berkshires where we unwind, enjoy friends and have lasting family gatherings"

" After receiving my BBA from Hofstra University and serving two years in the US Army, stationed in the Bavarian Alps, I returned to Hewlett and received an MBA from Long Island University. child, Michael, who passed away in 1981. For the past 18
years, my wife and I treasured weekending in our mountain

December 1, 2007: Now that 14 months have passed since our reunion and the fashionably late exemption has expired, I hereby beg Lee to include my biographical sketch. Actually, I found it was a fairly daunting task when I began it two summers ago. However, recent emails from Mark and Lee made me realize how terrific and interesting it has been to find out what everyone has been doing. So here are my highlights. I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, got an MBA from the University of Michigan and received a JD from George Washington University. Shared an apartment with Fink and Howie. They got married. I followed. Met Margie in 1973 and got married later that year. Margie has been my “best friend” for 34 years. (I always thought I was Howie’s best friend until he wrote in his bio that it was Janis – screw you Howie.) Have three children – Andrew 31, Sara 27 and Alex 17. We have lived in Wyckoff, NJ since 1975. Andrew and Sara both got married in 2007 to wonderful people; so I now have five children. I am very proud of my children and the choices they have made. This is a direct result of the efforts of their mother, Margie who has been very attentive to their development. She had also been very active in trying to work on my development; however, she has had limited success in that regard. Margie and I consider the Finkelstein’s and Kozinn’s our closest friends. Although we live in the far corners of the tri-state area, we see each other quite often. I have had only had one job. I worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers, a large public accounting firm, for 37 years; I worked in many capacities including managing partner of the New York region tax practice and as lead tax partner on many prestigious clients. I retired on June 30, 2003 and have been playing ever since. I go to the gym almost every day. I golf, ski, snowboard, bike, cook, read and go to all Alex’s sporting events – of which there are many. Margie and I hope to spend our winters skiing out west after Alex graduates from high school in 2008. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone at the reunion and reading the website. Best wishes to all.

I am a grandmother of five! My daughter Danielle teaches law at the University of Maryland Law School and lives with her family in Baltimore and daughter #2 Jeanine is an OB-GYN doc and lives with her family in Brookville, NY. I am still living in Hewlett and am now teaching Film at St. Johns in Queens. My career has been varied ranging from teaching French in a catholic seminary, to practicing law, to running my dad's business selling socks to the Wholesale Clubs (Costco and Price Club), to appearing on cable tv discussing the catholic novel and film, to finally where I've landed at the present time, teaching film. My husband of 33 years died in 1997. He was a plastic surgeon and so I'm in good shape (this is a total non sequitor)! My interests are swimming, painting, cooking, the opera, the ballet, museum hopping and of course enjoying every breath I take. What a life! Mary Lee (See larger image) |

What a surprise when Mark called !!! After moving 9 times, including living 3 years in Hong Kong, and most recently in Texas, I was shocked you were able to track me down. I've been married 42 years and have 4 children and 8 grandchildren----all who live in the area. Bill retired from IBM in 2000. Since then we've traveled a great deal. In between trips, I sub in the school district (Special Ed.) and Bill works managing a tax office. Thanks to all the folks working on the reunion and to Lee for the web site. It's GREAT !!!! "
Added May 25, 2006:
Lee, Thanks to you folks on the reunion Comm. Lenny Quaglio and I have been in contact again. My husband Bill and I met up with Lenny in a small Texas town (Salado) mid way between us. We all had a great time "catching up" on the last 45 years !!!! Bill took this picture of Lenny and I . Please attach it to the scrapbook pages if possible. Thanks again for all the time and work you are putting into the website. |

" Planning this reunion with the other committee members has been a truly incredible experience for us. We've renewed some old friendships but more importantly made many new ones. I can't wait to meet all of those class members I've been in touch with during the process. I believe that there never has been nor going forward there never will be the kind of turnout that I am expecting this October. Those who do come will feel this same sense of family that we as committee members have felt all along. As for my other life I attended Cornell, Adelphi and Pace after high school graduation. My roommates at Cornell included Peter Narins my freshman year and Dick Rosen my junior year. After graduation I lived in the Village with David now Loren Lawner and worked as an accountant for Peat Marwick Mitchell. In 1970 I bought a seat on the New York Stock Exchange and subsequently the American Stock Exchange where I traded derivatives and equities as a broker dealer for the next 35 years. I have been married to my wonderful wife Connie for the last 26 years and we have one remarkable son, Michael, 25. He recently decided to abandon his career as a journalist at the Sacramento Bee to attend Law School in the East. My primary residence has always been Manhattan and we've enjoyed spending summers in the Hamptons, Connecticut and now in New Paltz golfing, fishing and tinkering. " |

After graduating from GWH, I spent the rest of the 60's in school at Queens College, Brooklyn Law School, and NYU Law School. In 1970, I started practicing commercial law at a law firm in Manhattan, becoming a partner in 1975. In 1980, I started my own firm, and, yada yada yada, I am still at it. I married in 1968 and have a wonderful daughter, Tara (who will be 30 later this year), from that marriage. After my first marriage ended in 1980, I spent a lot of my time in the '80s trying to compensate for being an out-of-the-house dad. Tara married Mike Dore, her longtime boy friend (since sophomore year in college) last year -- they live in L.A., where she is an entertainment lawyer and he is a trial lawyer. In 1990, I married Liz (Geller) Woods, an old friend (she introduced me to my first wife) and now my best friend, and inherited two lovely stepdaughters, Meri, who lives in Wilmington, N.C., and Pam, who lives in Barcelona. Visiting our dispersed daughters, keeps us on the move. Liz (who grew-up in Merrick) does volunteer work for a nonprofit organization that operates an elder-residence in Manhattan. We live in Manhattan and spend long summer (and shorter spring and fall) weekends in Montauk, where we take great pleasure in the natural environment. I very much look forward to October 7 and to sharing long-ago memories with my former classmates. |

Graduated (there is some controversy about that) Penn State in '65. Had a few minor jobs before I joined IBM in 1966 selling computers to first time users. Spent 10 years with IBM before I cofounded a computer leasing company, Datalease. Ira Wasserman, who was in a similar business, was instrumental in helping me get started. Ran the company for 11 years before selling it to a UK leasing company in 1988. Since then I've been semi-retired, investing and managing real estate, traveling a lot and planning for this reunion. My best friend is my wife Janis. We've been married for 33 years. We have two married daughters Jill and Jenny. Jill lives in Larchmont, NY with her husband Adam and two young children Sela and Jonah. Jenny lives in NYC with her husband Evan. Jenny works a a social worker in the NYC school system. I am really looking forward to this reunion and seeing all my old classmates. (See larger image) |

"Married for 40 year to Susan. Have a daughter 35 who lives, for now, is Dallas. She had been managing the business offices for 14 hospitals. Left the hosiery business in 1980 to become a computer system consultant. Seems I gouldn't stay away from "audio/visual" stuff. Moved from New York to Maryland last year as my wife got a very good job offer. Commute a lot back to New York to work with clients. One of whom is Bobbi Waldman Ludel's brother Peter." |

Upon graduating High School I attended the Manhattan School for Dental and Medical Assisting. Once I graduated, 1962, I became a Dental assistant on Long Island and in Rosedale Queens N.Y. My last employment in N.Y. before moving to California was for Robert Hall Clothes in N.Y.C. I was the assistant to the warehouse manager. I moved to San Francisco in 1966. I took another break from the Dental world and secured a job as a collector on Delinq. accounts for Pitney - Bowes in San Francisco. After leaving that Co. I became a dental claims examiner for California Blue Shield. In my off time, I was a USO girl during the Viet Nam war and met and married an Army man. We moved to Texas for 6-9 months. He was assigned to the Presidio in San Francisco and we moved back. I had my son soon after that, but his father and I soon divorced. I went back to Dental Assisting in San Francisco. When my son was 4 years of age my Mom passed away and I was able to purchase a new home in Rohnert Park Cal. The wine country. It's about 65 miles north of San Franciso. I changed jobs again and was a collector for Crocker Bank in San Francisco. Once I realized I needed to find work closer to home, I went back to Dental assisting once again. I met my second husband, Glenn who is now a retired CHP officer, and married in 1979. Since I had experience in collecting delinq. accounts I started my own Collection Service in 1984. Dollars and Sense. We bought a new home 15 years ago in Windsor, Ca. I started volunteering at a local hospital and started Creating Wellness, a canine social Therapy Program. It is now 15 years old and in three hospitals I am very proud of my teams and what they do for the patients and staff when visiting. It is the largest program of it's kind in the world. Please visit my Website creating-wellness.net I also work for he Santa Rosa Police Dept. and the Sonoma County Sheriff's Dept. in crime prevention.Glenn and I are the co-managers of the Gift shop at Sutter Medical Center, I am the Pres. of the Aux. and he is my Vice Pres. along with the rest of the Board. Training owners and their dogs take up most of my time and through the years I have found what a great gift it is to have a dog in your hospital room when you don't feel well. Wishing you all a wonderful time at the Reunion. |

It's
impossible to look at the Class of '61 website and
not marvel at the efforts of Lee Mitchell and the rest
of the planning committee. What a wonderful journey through
the past and present you've mapped out for the
rest of us.Though I've been out of touch with my
classmates for more than four decades, years ago I did
run into Harry
Immerman on a street corner in the nation's capital,
saw Barry Bennett crossing the street in that same city,
and learned that my best friend from college had met Arnie
Rabinor on a construction site in Upstate New York. During
that same period, I also spotted Kenny Fine dashing through
the lobby of a NY hospital. It really is a tiny universe!
Oddly enough, my brother Bob (class of '58) who
has lived in Wisconsin since the late 60's recently
encountered Steven Blechman (Norma's brother) in
another unusual case of coincidence and happenstance! After
high school I earned my bachelors degree in public relations
at Utica College and masters in communications at Syracuse.
Graduate studies took me to Maine and then to Washington,
D.C. where I worked in a variety of settings focusing on
job training for low-income students and in public and
private mental health facilities. Until early retirement
in 2000, I spent most of my career in higher education
in Maryland as a vice president and dean of institutional
advancement. In 2001 I moved to the Delaware shore where
I now live on a piece of property adjacent to a pristine
saltwater marsh just six miles from the ocean … oddly
about the same distance the Five Towns is from Atlantic
Beach. After retirement I became active in Read Aloud Delaware,
a literacy program that fosters one-on-one reading
to preschoolers. In addition to reading to the kids,
I serve on the county and statewide boards of the organization. The
biggest change in my life, though, came not with retirement
but with my reuniting with the same best friend who
long ago chatted with Arnie R. Since January my college
sweetheart and I have been traveling back and forth between
his home in Tennessee and mine in Delaware as we make plans
for a future together. Ours is wonderful saga of bad timing,
strange twists of fate and the triumph of faith and love.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in October.

February 2010 -- Benay
wrote and enclosed a couple of pictures: "One is of
Carolyn Levin and me in April '59 but I have no idea where
it was taken. The other is (l-r) me,
Ilsa Prerau, Lesley Huberman and Nan Abraham in my backyard. Don't know when
we posed for this one, but I can see we were practicing
high jumping on our makeshift "equipment." You
can even see the rooftop antenna in the background!" Benay
is living in Delaware now, but plans on moving to Edenton,
NC in the near future. |

Will be married 40 years in June. Daughter Joanne will be 38, married and is an Assistant Principal for an Elementary School. Son Jeffrey is an Executive Chief and will be 36. No grand kids yet. Retired for the past few years. Worked for almost 24 years in the banking industry and left as a Branch Manager. She and her husband rescue dogs and at present have four beautiful dogs of various ages. They have 2 female St Bernard's, one male collie and one male golden retriever. To quote: "It's amazing what a little love will do. They are truly wonderful animals with very different personalities. It's surprising how well they get along since we rescue them all at different times in their lives. Thanks to all of you for doing such a great job putting it together. It just doesn't seem like 45 years have passed, but then again time stops for no one!" |

In 1961 my family moved to Gloucester, Massachusetts where we had a second home since 1951. I received a BA and MA in English from Northeastern. I also studied piano at the New England Conservatory and privately. My freelance writings have appeared in the BOSTON GLOBE MAGAZINE, HARVARD MAGAZINE and the NASSAU HERALD. My first article for the Globe, "The Catnip Pusher," was about my experiences selling catnip in Gloucester. I lived and worked in San Francisco between 1978 and 1982. Since 1984 I have been working in the Widener Library at Harvard. I place orders for books and other library materials such as DVDs and microfilm. In recent years, the library has been acquiring graphic novels and reprints of golden age comics. When I was collecting comic books and Mad magazines in Woodmere, it wasn't called cultural studies. |

WOW! I just finished reading the bios on the site. Everyone has had such interesting and diverse lives. Thanks to the committee and Lee for linking us together again! Congrats! to all those grandmas and grandpas. Following my H.S. graduation, and after one year at the Univ. of Miami, I transferred to the Univ. of Bridgeport and received my B.S. in Education. - Married in Dec. of '65, moved to New Rochelle, NY and then East Northport, Long Island. I have two incredible sons - David (38) and Darren (35) -- and now little Bella, an 8 months of age grandaughter (from Darren and Tara), who live only 15 minutes from me. Along the way, I have also lived in Briarcliff Manor in Westchester and in Summit, NJ. After completing my Masters in Special Education and a few years of teaching, I became an LDT/C (Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant) and am currently working in the neighboring town, Madison, NJ. with students from 7th -12th grade. I have also dabbled in real estate and still have an active license. I've done some traveling, but always enjoy revisiting Nantucket, where I was fortunate to own a house in the mid-eighties, and a Yoga retreat in the Berkshires. I am presently not married and adjusting to life without a significant other. Hope to see everyone in October! |
